city transport gains experts' approval
The blueprint for Qingdao' s
future transportation plan has received experts' approval.
According to the layout city buses will be categorized into four groups: Fast
transport, Major transport, Common transport and
Auxiliary transport. Half of
the city buses will be equipped with air- conditioners and 220 lines be put into
operation reaching an overall length of 3100 kilometers. Fushan Bay will become
a transport hub linking the Liuting Airport, Sifang, Cangkou, Yangkou, Huangdao
Island and Hongdao Island. 20 bus centers and 50 to 60 bus terminals located
near residential areas, commercial centers, docks, parks and sports facilities
will be built by 2010. Future passengers in Qingdao will be able to reach a bus
stop within 700 meters and spend less than 60 minutes in transit.
