It has been learned that the Liuting airport expansion project third phase
with a total investment of 600 million yuan will be started this year and will
be completed in 2006. Experts are reviewing the design now.
Since the new departure building of Luting airport was put into
use this
April, the visits of passengers have been constantly increasing. The new
departure building is designed to cover the capacity of 5.2 million visits by
2010 and 1,400 visits an hour at peak season. However, according to the present
increase of passengers, the capacity of the new departure building will be
reached by next October.
In the expansion project third phase, a new building of 560,000 square
meters will be built next to the departure building. The present runway will
also be renovated to carry large airplanes.
